IDIOMS: My husband, Sam, and I were talking about idioms that we grew up with and fully understand. Idioms are sayings that are often used very different from their literal meaning. They can make conversation colorful to say the least, especially when asked by a child, "what does that mean?" Often they are carried down through many generations, and are often used in my historical fiction books. We thought about how this generation may occasionally say them, but really have no idea of what they mean. I am going to suggest a few today and perhaps a few more as you respond. See if you can think of any that you completely understand but your children or younger people might not. :) I would like you respond to some of them (even question them if they are unfamiliar to you about how they are used). Hopefully, there are enough of us OLDER people that are on FB and using the internet to check here or my blog to take part. (LOL). Younger generation, ASK US WHAT THEY MEAN if you have no idea.

"Revenge" is a novel set in the North Carolina Mountains a few years after the close of the Civil War. The main character, Nathe Watson, has returned to his beloved mountains after living with family in Tennessee for the past ten years. During the Civil War, a feud had occurred between the Watson Family and the Hooper Family over a lead mine. This had escalated until the Hoopers killed a number of Watsons. At the time, nine year old Nathe had seen it and was sent by his mother to Tennessee. He is now back for Revenge. A story of life, love, and the strong need for revenge.
